Philips Airfryer XXL Review

Philips Airfryer XXL Reviews

If you are thinking of buying a Philips Air fryer and hence zeroed your attention on a particular model manufactured by Philips, this Philips Airfryer XXL review should come in handy for you.

If you’ve ever visualized yourself lounging on the sofa and having a handsome hubby by your side watching an entertaining movie with a plate full of delicious and crispy potato chips, you should have heard about the Philips Airfryer XXL. It’s not quite the same in real life, but it will satisfy you in very much the same way. Whether you’re looking for an appliance that takes the stress out of cooking or just makes your life easier, a solid Air fryer is the perfect solution. The Philips Airfryer XXL may be on the higher end of the price spectrum, but it’s worth the investment for a reliable, worry-free cooking appliance.

What it is actually?

The Philips Airfryer XXL is a high-end air fryer with a huge (XXL) capacity. It essentially functions as a portable oven that can cook whatever you want. Just set the temperature and time, and the Airfryer does the rest.

You’ll get crispy, oil-free food that’s faster and easier to cook than with other appliances.

Price-wise, it’s on the high end of fryers, mainly because of its size and its “smart sensing” and “fat removal” technology. Basically, it can cook healthier foods than its competitors.

Advantages

The Philips Airfryer XXL is the easiest kitchen appliance to use.

Even if you are inexperienced in the kitchen, you can get it up and running by simply referring to the user manual. Basically, you put the food in the appliance, select the temperature, choose the time and that’s it. With just three buttons, the food is ready in a jiffy.

Even if you have to “watch” the device in an emergency, you can usually go about your day while the food cooks in the background. The preparation time is quite short, and it is usually enough to just dump the food into the Airfryer basket and wait for the machine to do its job.

From a healthy-eating standpoint, it also uses much less oil than frying, and can make your food crispier and tastier in the Airfryer. In my books, this is a win-win.

If you’re used to cooking in a skillet or oven, it can be hard to break old habits. It’s not like you’re going to cook on one of those appliances and have to learn entirely new ways of cooking. For younger cooks, it’s probably a quick and easy process, but older cooks may have a hard time letting go of the controls.

Disadvantages

While the Philips Airfryer XXL is great for cooking food in a flash, it does have a downside, especially if you go the extra mile.

Food cooked in the insert is closer to the Airfryer’s heating element, which means it will generally brown more than food at the bottom of the basket. If you are using the Airfryer for the first time, you may make this mistake and the food may cook unevenly.

Since all of these processes take place in a closed, windowless box, you also don’t have an overview of what you are doing. You can open the drawer to check, but heat is lost in the process. Instead, trust the cooking process and let the magic box do its job.

You also have to learn to cook with the appliance by trial and error.

Sometimes the Airfryer overcooks food (like the meat pies above), other times you have to try again. Online recipes lead to strange, even crazy results (I ended up making “donut holes” that turned into hard cookies), and you have to figure out what works as you work. Using an Airfryer is an art that will remain a mystery to novices, although this appliance is largely foolproof.

Cleaning

Cleaning is another negative point when it comes to the Airfryer. The appliance needs to be cleaned after each use, including the metal insert (if used), the bottom grill, the inner pan, the grease trap (which gets very dirty) and the outer pan. These are several complicated parts, and you’ll have to use a soft sponge to make sure you don’t scratch anything. It’s slow and tedious.

While the cooking time with the Philips Airfryer XXL is much shorter than with traditional appliances, the cleaning time is almost twice as long. If you’re not a great cleaner, this is an important factor to consider.

“I was skeptical when I saw this on TV, but decided to give it a try. Boy was I happily surprised! I’ve fried fish, chicken & my kids use it for frozen chicken strips/fries & they love it! It’s easy to use, cuts regular cooking time in half & even better, it’s easy to clean!! Looking forward to seeing what more this incredible cooking machine can do!

Valley Girl

Works really well! I read other reviews before purchasing, and this sounded like a solid piece although more expensive than others. Food comes out crispy on the outside and tender inside. Love using it for salmon. There is nothing like frying in oil, so for items like French fries and sweet potato fries, it works well, but food will be of different density than real oily fries. Air fried food is physically lighter.

For the Truth

I did a lot of research before purchasing this air fryer. I’ve used it many times since purchasing it and I haven’t been disappointed yet. The air fryer has a non-stick surface which is very easy to clean. The basket size is large enough to cook what is needed for a family of six although a second or third batch may be necessary for some things. As long as the food is cooked properly the food comes out crispy on the outside just like an oil fryer. It has become a favorite kitchen appliance to cook with. The unit itself is a little big but would still fit on a normal sized counter top and it’s not an eyesore. I would definitely recommend this as a healthy alternative to deep frying.

Joy

This is a great way to prepare food. My first try did not work out but I bought the cookbooks and now cooking is great. Food is juicy on the inside and crisp on the outside.”

Wrapping up

Air fryers s are generally not compact. While not as big as toaster  ovens, they usually take up a lot of counter space. However, the Philips Airfryer XXL fits perfectly into these monstrous machines. However, the XXL pan offers ample cooking space for a large investment.

With this appliance you can fry 3 pounds of potatoes, chips or frozen snacks. It’s even roomy enough to fry whole chickens, even small ones. The Airfryer XXL is equipped with a robust 1725 watt heating system, so it’s efficient too. And like any self-respecting air fryer, the XXL Airfryer cooks food with little or no oil.

But after using the Airfryer for the past few weeks, I have definitely become a convert. The Philips Airfryer XXL is so user-friendly that cooking is a breeze. More importantly, you can cook while taking a nap, watching a movie or doing other chores around the house. For anyone who cares about productivity (or just hates wasting time eating), this is a godsend.

If you want to invest in the best deep fryer, the Philips Airfryer XXL should be on your list. This is a great appliance that can save your life in the kitchen.
